| Private Lakefront Retreat on Sakinaw Lake, BC | |
Driving from Vancouver to Sakinaw Lake Plan for 1 1/2 hours of driving and a 35 minute ferry ride – under 3 hours total travel time to the cottage from West Vancouver.
1. To the Ferries: Take the # 1HighwayWest (the Trans Canada), past West Vancouver and follow signs to the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal. At this junction, stay left for the ferry toll booths.
2. BC Ferries Information: Drive to the Langdale/Sunshine Coast toll booths. The ferries leave Horseshoe Bay every two hours starting at 7:20 am, with the last boat at 9:15 pm. (Sometimes in the summer extra sailings and late sailings are added.) Ferries return to Vancouver on the even hours. You can make reservations — recommended in the summer months. Before you leave, check the ferry schedule at www.bcferries.com for details. The ferry ride offers spectacular scenery and takes about 35 minutes.
3. From Langdale to Sakinaw: Once you drive off the ferry, from Langdale there is one main road - Highway 101 - which takes you from one end of the Sunshine Coast to the other. It is, for the most part, two lanes and traffic can be a bit pokey. Just relax and enjoy the scenery - you’re on vacation, remember?
Go straight ahead up the hill to bypass lower Gibsons and get on the 101 North Highway with signs to Roberts Creek, Sechelt and Pender Harbour. You will follow this Highway 101 North to Garden Bay Road. Total 63 kms from the ferry terminal. Turn left at Garden Bay Road at The Petro Canada Gas Station.
Detailed driving directions will be emailed to you prior to your arrival. | |
